What should I wear to class?
Form-fitting clothes are best: leggings that completely cover your knees, and a top, leotard, or shirt that you can tuck in. We strongly recommend that the abdomen and underarms be covered to avoid friction burns. Layers are always nice for warm-up and cool-down periods. No shoes may be worn in the gym. Socks are optional. Absolutely NO zippers on clothing, as it rips the equipment and can be dangerous.
NO jeans, chewing gum, jewelry (rings, watches, dangling earrings, big necklaces), sunscreen, oils, or lotions of ANY KIND, please. Do I need any experience?
No experience is necessary for our Beginner, Intro level, Flying Tots, or AIReal Yoga classes. We will teach you everything you need to know.
Anyone with a spirit for adventure and an open mind to try something new and exciting can learn. We offer classes for ages 3 and up! |

I’m not an athlete, will I be able to keep up?
Everyone starts somewhere. Some students have a greater climb to get in great aerial shape. The most important factor in success is a good attitude and a commitment to your training.
Do I need to be flexible?
No, we will help you to work on your flexibility in every class. Flexibility makes all the positions visually more pleasing, however for most moves flexibility is not required.

Is there a weight limit?
Our equipment is rated to hold the weight of a small elephant.
All humans are welcome! Is it dangerous?
Our studio is a safe and positive environment. There can be small scrapes and bruises in any physical activity, but the risk of serious injury is small so long as participants heed the instruction of their teacher and follow our studio's safety rules.
At the recreational level, since it is done with proper equipment, training and supervision, aerial is as safe as any other recreational sport or rigorous physical activity you may engage in. If you have any physical impairments that could impact your own well-being, please let us know before class. The most common injuries are overuse injuries of shoulders and back, pulled muscles, bruises, fabric burns, and dizziness/nausea (from being upside-down or spinning). |
Can I watch a class first?
Yes, you are welcome to watch most of our classes in the waiting area.
Take a look at the online schedule and class descriptions, then give us a call to coordinate the best day/time to observe a class of interest. We will also gladly make recommendations based on your experience, fitness level, and overall goals. Will I be sore the next day?
Some soreness is very common given the highly intense fitness program. Expect to be sore after class. Soreness should last 2-3 days, and typically occurs in the fingers, forearms, back, and abs. Even if new students are in good shape, as with any new movement practice, they will probably still experience soreness. We recommend some form of ibuprofen and a nice hot bath with Epsom salts the day after your first class, followed by a good session of slow stretching.
Can I take photos?
We encourage taking photos and videos so long as it does not interfere with the teaching of the class and with the safety of the students. If you are in class and want someone to take your photo/video, please check with the instructor to make sure it's an appropriate time During our performances and birthday parties, you may take photos/videos at any time. Remember to post to our Instagram and Facebook page so we can see all the fun you're having! @theaerialstudio

What should I bring?
Please bring water in a closed, non-glass container to stay hydrated. We also recommend a sweatshirt (no zippers) and socks for the winter months during your warm up.
Can I just show up to take a class?
Please sign up and pay online before you arrive to class. We'd hate for you to arrive only to find the class is full. Payment is due before you participate in class. You may register for a single class at a time (at the drop-in rate, if available). But we strongly recommend investing in one of our semester package options, which offers a discounted rate for repeat students, and holds your place in class every single week.

Where should I start?
We highly recommend starting out with a private lesson. Whether you are coming from another aerial studio or have never taken a class, you'll get one-on-one attention that will help us place you in the right class level and set you up for success. You’ll get to try different apparatuses, learn the basic techniques, and begin to develop the muscles and flexibility needed to progress.
Who should NOT take Aerial?
If you have vertigo, heart disease, pregnancy, recent surgeries, high or low blood pressure, glaucoma, severe arthritis, artificial hip, cerebral sclerosis, disc herniation, several muscle spasms, carpal tunnel syndrome, radiculitis, sinusitis or tendonitis. Please consult your doctor before taking an aerial class if you have any of the mentioned above.
